Suspension of Disbelief: THE GLASS SHIELD (1994)

Ice-Cube's character is arrested with a gun. The victim was shot with a gun of the same caliber. Yet the police don't run a ballistics test on Cube's gun before charging him. Did they think the viewers wouldn't notice this basic-police-work blunder?
