Suspension of Disbelief: THE LAST HUNTER (1980)
In the first ten minutes a special forces captain jumps into a river with his pack & rifle. Upon reaching shore he is scared by a snake and drops his pack & rifle and swims about 10 feet away from the riverbank to avoid it. But here's the kicker: He does not go back for his pack and rifle. He simply abandons it.
